BANDFEST 2008 GOES TO ORANGE WALK

On Saturday April 26, 2008, The People’s Stadium in Orange Walk will be the venue for the 3rd annual Bandfest Marching Band Competition.

This year’s Marching Band competition promises to be the most exciting event of the year and will see participation from a wide cross section of marching bands in Belize. The two main categories are Drum Corp and Wind Instruments.

The competition will include the usual Road March in the morning that will go through the principal streets of Orange Walk. Participating bands will be judged at different key locations before arriving at the People’s Stadium for the Marching Band Showdown.

Once at the People’s Stadium bands will be allocated 15 minutes to give Belizeans their best performance and will be judged by a group of highly qualified judges.

The winning bands receive cash prizes and trophies and the bragging rights as Belize’s Best Marching Band.

Reigning Champions are the Succotz Festival Drum Corp and in second place The Mount Carmel Primary School Marching Band, both bands representing the Cayo District.

Bandfest 2008 is being held under the patronage of The Governor General of Belize Sir Colville Young and is a joint effort of The R.S.V.Ltd Group of Companies (Love FM, Love TV, Estereo Amor and MORE FM) along with Belize Electricity Ltd., Belize Telemedia Ltd and Belize Natural Energy.
