YOUNG MAN CHARGED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER Apr 19, 2012

20-year-old Keron Johnson, a labourer of Jane Usher Boulevard was charged with the attempted murder of 18-year-old Christopher Jorgenson when he appeared in court today.  Johnson was also charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm.  No plea was taken from him because the offences are indictable; neither could the court offer him bail because of the nature of the offences. Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith remanded him into custody until May 15.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15.  Reports are that Jorgenson was playing basketball on a court on Jane Usher Boulevard when one of two persons pulled a firearm from the waist of his pants and fired several shots at him.  Jorgenson was shot in his arm and lower abdomen.  He was admitted to ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where is reported to be in a critical but stable condition.
