Effective today a much needed medical service is once again available to the people of the Toledo District.  Correspondent Paul Mahung explains.

“It is over six months that the x-ray unit at the Punta Gorda hospital remains in non-functional and the no x-ray services available reportedly because of an electrical related problem at the hospital, this leading to inadequate electrical voltage to make the unit operational.  This situation over the pass months had brought challenging times to many in Toledo who suffered inconveniences, additional time and money as they had no other choice but to go outside of Toledo to get x-ray services.  The Southern Medical and Diagnostic Centre in Punta Gorda responded to the urgent need of getting x-ray services available once again in Toledo as explained by the center’s Executive Director, Edwin Paulino.”

“Today, Monday we officially declare open the x-ray unit at the Southern Medical Diagnostic Centre.  We are definitely trying to fill the gap that has been opened for over six months where there has been no x-ray services provided, so our people needed to go to Dangriga.  So as of today as I will reiterate, we have x-ray services at the Southern Medical and Diagnostic Centre.”
