“Faith Assembly of God, a local church here in this municipality, is currently hosting a bible summer camp which got underway on Monday, July 2nd for some two hundred young people. Eta Ejike is one of the facilitators. Explain to us what is the objective of the summer camp and what are some activities the young people are currently engaged in.”
ETA EJIKE, Facilitator
“The objective of the summer camp, the bible summer camp, is as the bible tells us train up your child in the way they should go and when they go they won’t depart from those ways. So the whole idea is to minister the Gospels to these children, establish them on the basic foundations of principles of the Gospel because we know what is happening to the young people these days. There is so much crime and now they are on summer holiday and the bible tells us also that the idle hand they find something to do, so we want to make sure that they do something constructive but make it fun so they don’t think it’s boring, they have games. We teach them arts, they interact with one another because iron sharpens iron. They find people of like mind to form relationships with and we’re hoping to establish them on the word of God so each time they find themselves going in the wrong direction they remember the foundational principles they have been thought and this goes on every year and we try to open it to every child. Anybody that comes we accommodate them and they have fun, they have arts and craft, they have some play time at the park, they have snack time, they have time bible study, they have questions and answers and they have prizes when we feel that they have been following and doing well and we just make them realize that being in church is fun also it’s not boring as they thing you know, and that’s why many of them are not in church, we make it fun for them as well.

MIKE NEERA, Volunteer
“We bring a team of like thirty two people bringing the supplies, bringing the lesson plan, everything down from Aragon where we’re from and teaching this. So we are bringing all our activities, we made necklaces, bracelets, did some weaving, we have some new song, all of these things to give them a positive learning environment and our teenagers and young adult that came here to help show the love of Jesus and spread the Gospel to each of these children because we know in our hearts how important it is and we want to help the Faith Assembly of God Church extend their handouts to the people here in Dangriga to know just how important Jesus is and to spread that to all the kids here within this community.”
