Early morning search by CIB formation in San-Ignacio formation uncovered some 630 grams of cannabis in an open yard. Elaine Berry Reports.

“At about 4 AM on Wednesday July 4th, the Criminal Investigation Brach and Special Brach of the San Ignacio police formation along with Quick Response Team (QRT) from Benque Viejo and Belmopan conducted an operation in the San Ignacio, Santa Elena and surrounding villages. During the operation a search on an abandon lot on George Price Avenue in Santa Elena lead to the discovery of a black plastic bag wrapped with a black tape. The bag was searched and a total of 630 grams of cannabis were discovered. Police labeled the cannabis as found property. Also, at about 4:30 AM 11.5 grams of cannabis were also found in an abandon lot on Second Street, it was also listed as found property and at about 4:45 AM, two persons were arrested in the village of Esparanza at a house occupied by Windell Trapp, 21 year old Belizean labourer and Jovan Trapp, 18 year old Belizean labourer. A search was conducted and a total of 1 gram of cannabis was found. Police arrested both men. They were taken to the San Ignacio Magistrate Court where Jovan pleaded guilty to the 1 gram of cannabis.
