BELMOPAN HOLDS COALITION MEETING TO ADDRESS CRIME SITUATION Jul 10, 2012

 

A coalition meeting was held last evening in Belmopan to address the crime situation. With a report here is Fem Cruz.

 

FEM CRUZ, Reporter

“Last night Monday, July 9 a meeting was held at the George Price Center here at the City of Belmopan.  The purpose of the meeting was to form a People’s Coalition in respect to the crime situation here in Belmopan.  The chairlady Ms. Mitchelle Rodriguez will give us more details.”

 

MITCHELLE RODRIGUEZ, Chairlady

“Yes, last night we had our second formation meeting in which we formed a committee.  So Belmopan now has the committee, it have 15 members making up of different people from the business community.  City Council, both PUP and UDP representatives were there and residence of Belmopan.  Our committee will be meeting again on Monday, our first official meeting and it is through that we will come up with our objective, proposal for Belmopan and we hope to get a meeting going with the entire community introducing what we have propose for Belmopan.  The first thing we would like to get started with is getting our neighborhood watches going.  We feel that this is the right route to take and this would help put a cap on crime.”
