The issue of grown men taking advantage of teenage girls under the age of eighteen has been in the news a lot recently. And today there is one more to report.  The latest reported case comes from the village or Lord’s Bank.  The mother of the girl, whose name we will withhold, came to our studios to complain that at age fifteen her daughter, then attending high school, was impregnated by another student, who is much older than the girl.  This is the mother’s story.

“Well she was in second form going to school and there was a boy right from the school and she and the boy were friends but I guess it was more than that because before she was going to third form she got pregnant in June and then she couldn’t go back to school and she got pregnant and she was only fifteen years old and the boy was about twenty or more or less over.  Then when we made a report, as the parents, we made a report to the police station and the family services they explain to us that we as the parents can’t do anything about it, it is my daughter who has to come in and make a complain about him.  So what I say is that we need to do as parents - could do something especially if the child is under age because he was over twenty so he was a man and I just came out to say I wish we can as a parent can do something about that so it doesn’t have to be only up to child especially how she is under age.”

The mother told Love News that her daughter has now given birth and that she is struggling, with little input from the father of the baby, to maintain the infant.

“Well he do his little hustling and so he buy pampers and things for the baby but sometime we have to buy too, me and mother and then – because he is not really working because he was in school still yet and he just came out in June.  He just came out of school in June so he was still going to school but to me he is really abusing my daughter and I don’t know if physically but mentally because many times I hear that he curse my daughter and tell her a lot of things and thing like that.”

Love News has made several attempts to get word from the Department of Human Services, but we have so far not been able to reach anyone from that office to speak on this issue.
