The Peoples National Party in Punta Gorda closed its annual summer camp at the weekend. Paul Mahung Reports.

“The People’s National Party Youth Summer Camp ended at the weekend in Punta Gorda.  The one week camp was a successful event as explained by camp coordinator and PNP Leader, Will  Maheia.”

“Camp was a great success.  The People’s National Party has been holding summer camps for the past five years to try and empower our youths who are the future leaders of this country.  This year the camp was considered another success in the fact that we keep doing this and the theme for the camp this year was leadership development through environmental awareness.  As you know the PNP is a political party with a green platform, a sustainable development platform, a very nationalistic party and the highlights of the camp was two.  We visited Mr. Eladio Pop’s Organic Farm in Columbia Village and the youth, the kids especially the ones from Belize City, learned a lot about organic farming and the other highlight of the camp was the trip to the Guatemalan border where the kids went up the Sarstoon River and realized that Belize have this border with Guatemala and all the kids were excited to be at the border and they came from there with a clearer vision about the Belize Guatemala relationship.”

“We would like to thank all those who supported this camp. This camp was made possible through donations from various sources across Belize and international.  We also had participation from people from Orange Walk, Belmopan, Toledo, Stann Creek and from the international community.  So we had close to forty participants and I would like to thank all the participants, all the Councilors who stepped up to the plate to volunteer their time and all the people who donated money to make this camp possible.”
