POLICE DEPARTMENT HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE

The Police Department held its usual Monday morning press conference today at its Raccoon Street Conference Room at which it shared the latest on incidents that happened over the weekend. There were no major shootings to report or murders. In fact, the most serious to report on was a stabbing in the Cayo District that has left a young man critically wounded. Police Press Officer, Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood, briefed reporters of the incident.
FITZROY YEARWOOD, Inspector of Police
“We have a report from the San Ignacio area where on the 22nd of July police visited the scene around 3:15 AM where Gilroy Nicholas, twenty-nine years, of Lishawville area reported that he was sitting on his verandah when a make person attacked him, stabbed him, got what appear to be three stab wounds, two to the right side of the chest and one to the left side. Nicholas was then transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital and is now at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a serious condition.”
There was also an aggravated burglary that occurred on the Old Northern Highway on Sunday.

“A known member of that community, Mr. Hippoleto Castillo, seventy-two year old retired person, he was at his farm on the 22nd of July that is yesterday’s date. Around 6 o’clock he said he went to his stable not too far from the house where he was attacked by six men, all dressed in black clothing, their face covered with masks, these men were all armed with weapons, fire arms to be exact. These men blind folded him, his hands were tied, and he was escorted back to the house where he was instructed to hand over a chest, his chest containing an undisclosed amount of cash. These men went on to ram sack the house, fairing for his life he didn’t try to do anything. The men then took him outside where they ask him for another chest. They took away his twelve gage pump action shot gun and they left in his Isuzu pick up to the value of $10,000. This pick up was later located by Ladyville police at an area around mile 23 on a feeder road about 3 miles from his residence.”
Police continue to investigate both incidents.
MARTHA POLANCO, 30yrs, Supervisor of Tomza Gas reported that between the hours of 5:00pm on 19th July, 2012 and 7:00am on 20th July, 2012 someone broke into Tomza Gas office located on Blake Street and stole (1) Lenova brand Laptop computer valued $2,600.00bcy; (1) black in color HP brand printer valued $1,600.00bcy; (1) black and blue in color modem valued $400.00bcy; (1) black in color metal cash pan valued at $75.00bcy that contained $1,000.00bcy cash. Police are looking for Rafael Martinez for questioning.
