The Dangriga Town Council held a business mix on Thursday, July twenty sixth at the Sea Breeze Restaurant and Hotel in that Municipality. Correspondent Harry Arzu has the details

“The event which got under way at 7 PM provided a forum for business owners and professionals to voice their concern on issues that probably have negative impact on their businesses as well as to provide achievable solutions to the concerns raised. Some of the concerns that were raised during the discussions include: Lack of properly planned infrastructure development programs, broken deplorable and dusty streets, dirty beaches and erosion, over grown and abandon yards, lack of constructive and to provide activities for young people, loitering, lack of proper traffic signs, neighborhood watch groups and beautification of Dangriga. Conversely, from the lively discussions some members of the business community pledged to adapt and maintain some public places in an effort to enhance the magnificent beauty of Dangriga and to boost economic development in his remarks of the gathering mayor of Dangriga, Gilbert Swazo said that a large number of residence from this municipality have been very slow in paying their property tax which he said is a major setback for the Council to carry out its functions efficiently. He further commented that effective August 6, 2012, the Council will have no choice but to take delinquent persons to court to recover monies owed to the Council.
