Estereo Amor Awards Two High School Scholarships
Aug 14, 2012
Two teenagers from Orange Walk Town have won a four scholarship to Orange Walk Technical High School. The scholarship was offered by Estereo Amor in collaboration with the Orange Walk Technical High School. In early July, the public was invited to apply for the scholarships in two categories. In the first, they were invited to write a three hundred word essay in which they would discuss how they believe violence against women and children can be addressed and why he/she or the person they are nominating deserves the scholarship. In the second category, the public was invited to send in their text messages by just typing “Beca Estereo Amor” in the body of the message. After careful consideration, the winner in the first category was chosen. The winner of the second category was drawn this morning. They are Alejandra Campos of an Orange Walk Town address and Emily Sanchez of August Pine Ridge Village in the Orange Walk District. Both young ladies were nominated by Orange Walk residents who said they saw the great need for the scholarship in both cases. The winners do not need prior registration into the high school as the spaces have been made available by the institution. Estero Amor and the Orange Walk Technical High School would like to thank all those who sent in their text messages and their essays.
