“The family of 33 year old Fernando Quib arrived this morning in Orange Walk Town to recover the body of the deceased.  Quib was murdered around three, Wednesday morning while he slept on the passenger seat of his six wheeler truck that was parked on Banak Street in Orange Walk Town.  His younger brother, Juan Quib Jr. and his father, Juan Quib Sr  arrived in Orange Walk this morning to take his body for burial back home in San Vicente Village, Toledo.  Juan Quib Jr. says his brother who traveled to Orange Walk up to 3 times a week, never feared making the long trip.”

“So he does that for how many years now?”

JUAN QUIB Jr.

Brother of the deceased

“He’s doing that from since he was 20, he is been doing that for 8 or 10 years now.  He had no fear in it but eventually it happened so and couldn’t help it.  I think it’s just a robbery that happened to him. Cause he is calm, talkative and he is not an ignorant pa, he is just calm and I believe it’s just a robbery.”

“Quib’s boss, Carlos Estrada Pinto was also with the family offering his assistance in transporting Quib’s body back home.”

“I sent him to get a truck load of swine and he couldn’t take it in his truck so it was taken in another because something with the brakes went wrong  and he came to the mechanic to get it fixed but because he arrived late the mechanic told him he couldn’t fix it until the other day.  So he spent the night in his truck and that’s where they killed him.  They really must have thought he carried a lot of money and they killed him but he had already handed thirteen thousand dollars to another person who went to buy the swine.  He only kept three thousand dollars and that is what they took from him.  That is the work we do weekly we buy cattle and swine from Shipyard and Blue Creek.”
