Investigations Continue Into Fire At Foam Factory Oct 03, 2012

 

A fire in Belize City on Tuesday afternoon has resulted in thousands of dollars in damages. 

Around three thirty yesterday afternoon fire broke out at production facility belonging to Belize Foam Factory at mile two on the George Price Highway. 

Initial investigations by authorities reveal that three employees were in the process of mixing chemical for the production of foam, when one of the blocks caught on fire due to chemical reaction.  Police reports say the fire quickly went out of control and by the time fire fighters arrived on the scene, the forty by sixty five feed cement structure with zinc roofing was completely engulfed.

The value of the gutted building is put at thirty five thousand dollars, which the machinery that was inside is valued at twenty five thousand dollars.  Foam and chemicals destroyed in the blaze are estimated at eighteen thousand dollars, for a total in estimated damages of seventy eight thousand dollars. 

No one was injured in the blaze and police and fire officials continue their investigation of the incident.
