An armed hold up was reported at a used-clothing store in Belize City on Tuesday.  The proprietor of Jireh Used Clothing Myra Patricia Rash told police that she was accosted by three men, one of whom carried a handgun.  Rash says that the men demanded money.  Fearing for her life, Rash says she handed over three hundred dollars from the cash register and forty dollars which she had in her purse.  One of her employees was also robbed of a gold chain and cell phone.  The robbers reported rode away from the scene of the armed robbery on separate bicycles.  Police investigations continue.

 

A fire in the Stann Creek district has destroyed multiple buildings belonging to businessman Emilio Zabaneh.  According to Zabaneh, he got a call from one of his employees on Friday informing him that the buildings on his farm located on Lynam Road were on fire. Zabaneh says that when he went to the farm on Saturday he found that five buildings, including a dwelling house and a warehouse were completely destroyed by fire. The estimated value of the destroyed building has been tallied at five hundred thousand dollars.  The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained and police investigation continues.
