Judge Discharges Jury; New Trial for Accused Murderer Oct 20, 2012

A murder case which began on Monday of this week came to a sudden halt this morning when the judge discharged the 12 member jury.

The case of the accused will be traverse and a new trial will begin next week. 34-year-old Alvaro Rene Gregorio, who was accused of killing Roberto Jimenez Marroguin saw his murder trial come to an end after three days of trial before Supreme Court Justice Troadio Gonzalez.

The sudden and abrupt halt came as a result of a legal and technical point that could not be settled. That argument had to do with the testimony of the crown’s only witness, the accused man’s wife.  Aura Molina Juarez who testified in the trial this week gave a firsthand account that she saw her husband issue the fatal stab to the deceased, 43-year-old Roberto Jimenez Marroguin.

Marroguin was stabbed once to the heart and  died on the spot.  The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 after a misunderstanding between Gregorio, his wife and the deceased which occur at their home located in the San Mateo area of San Pedro Town.
