A new justice of the Supreme Court has been sworn in. He is Justice Courtenay Ashton Abel, a native of Anguilla, an island in the Caribbean. Justice Abel was sworn in this morning by the Hon. Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin in a ceremony that was held in his court. Justice Abel, who is married, replaces Justice Samuel Awich who is now a justice of Belize Court of Appeal. Justice Abel worked in private practice before he came to Belize.
