MAYA ISLAND AIR GOES REGIONAL

July 08, 2009

Maya Island Air today introduced its regional flights. Inaugural ceremonies were held in Belize and Guatemala. Love News spoke with CEO of Maya Island Air, Louie Zabaneh.

Louie Zabaneh; CEO, Maya Island Air

“At this point we are actually flying half of our schedule because of the conditions in Honduras. We fly out of Cancun in the morning at eight and we arrive into Belize City and leave for Guatemala City at 9:30 and then the aircraft returns at 5:15 from Guatemala to Belize. It leaves Phillip Golson here at 6:45 or 6:50, thereabouts, to Cancun and then we repeat the following day so it is a daily flight that we have right now. As soon as conditions permit we will then have a flight at six in the morning from San Pedro Sula, through Belize, up to Cancun, back to Belize and then back to San Pedro Sula. We have an introductory price right now of $99 from Belize to Guatemala City, Belize to Cancun or Belize to San Pedro Sula whenever that occurs. For folks are travelling from Guatemala, their first leg will be $199, for example Guatemala to Belize City and then the second leg will be $99; let’s say Belize to Cancun.  We are very fortunate that we have gotten such strong support in all three countries that we are flying to and of course we have gotten a lot of support here in Belize. This is a testament to the fact that our relationships are getting stronger and stronger and the fact that we have been able to connect in such a short time from these cities to Belize or from these cities to the other cities. That is the big deal for everyone and we are very humble to provide the service.”
