THE INSTITUTE OF CREATIVE ARTS PRESENTS “DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA”

November 26, 2009

The Bliss Center for the Performing Arts will be the venue for the presentation of a mixture of dance styles tomorrow evening. The Dance Extravaganza will feature classical, contemporary, hip-hop and cultural dances. Program Officer at the Bliss Katie Usher tells us more.

Katie Usher; Program Officer, Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts

"We have the Ugundani Dance Group and the Ulixim Dance Group from Corozal. The Ugundani will do the Garifuna Dances and then you have the Ulixim doing the Maya Mestizo. There is the New Generation Dance Company that does Hip-hop, there is the Ballet Art School and Vista Dance Studio who will be doing classical numbers and then you have the Belize Dance Company Dance Company that does both classical and contemporary. There is also the Belize Cabaret Dancers. What the Bliss tries to do now is to integrate various styles of dances and give it an opportunity to showcase the various styles to a wider audience so the idea was to just join several different dance styles into one show. You have an audience that will be able to see all different styles of dance; not just classical, not just contemporary, not just Hip-hop."

Winners of Duets season two, Delonie Grant and Gilbert Gomez, will also be performing. The show will start at eight o’clock and entrance is ten dollars general and 20 dollars reserved. According to a press release issued by the Bliss Centre the show will lively, loud, and crowd-pleasing.
