GUATEMALAN FOREIGN MINISTER'S VISIT POSITIVE SAYS PM MUSA

Leaving Belize recently after a short visit was Guatemalan Foreign Minister, Gert Rosenthal.  We asked Prime Minister Musa what the nature of his visit was.

Prime Minister, Hon. Said Musa

“He was recently appointed the Foreign Minister of Guatemala and he came here really to update himself on the Belize side of our perspective, how we saw things in our negotiations between Belize and Guatemala. Basically it was a courtesy call, a getting to know session if you like but we also were able to discuss how we’re going to  move forward with a resolution to this problem and I sense the Minister hopefully he represents the views of his entire government. Certainly I got the impression that the Minister was very positive and anxious to move ahead with a resolution of this whole differendum between Belize and Guatemala.”

Marion Ali:

“Did anything definitive come out of that.?”

Prime Minister, Hon. Said Musa

“No,no. It was more a message. A tone if you like for future discussions.”

We also asked Prime Minister Musa when the next meeting will take place over the controversy between the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Police Department involving the 400 plus case files yet for review.

Prime Minister Hon. Said Musa

“It is set for after the tenth. It hasn’t really been finalized at yet. We are moving towards a resolution of this matter very soon.”
