September 08, 2006
Monday will mark three weeks since Doctor Miguel Rosado was critically injured in a traffic accident on the Western Highway. His condition, while it continues to improve, remains critical at Universal Health Services Intensive Care Unit in Belize City. One of Rosado’s attending physicians, Doctor Jorge Hidalgo, says although Rosado has been responding slowly, the prognosis remains promising. DR. JORGE HIDALGO “He is improving everyday. He remains with mechanical ventilation. He is adjusting now to breathing on his own, with basically minimal support of the machine. We expect that in 48 hours hopefully he’ll be able to breathe without the support of the machine. That is good new because basically that means that he is improving. His brain also is improving everyday based on the brain cat scan. MARION ALI “Is he responding improving adequately, the way you all had anticipated he would be?” DR. JORGE HIDALGO “Well basically for the extent of the injury, the brain damage, he is responding very slowly as we expected. I believe it should probably be until next week, in terms of his inner condition. At least most of his functions, lung, liver, kidneys are working very well. With that we don’t have any complications at this point right now we need to be patient and wait.” Doctor Miguel Rosado is a pediatrician and nephrologist at Universal Health Services.
