San Ignacio Town police have charged two men and a minor in connection with the stabbing of an off-duty Police officer.  The two men are 21 year-old Rodin Spain, who is charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm, and 28 year-old Yomel Spain, who is charged jointly along with the 16 year-old minor with conspiracy to commit murder. Police say the three charged are expected in the San Ignacio Magistrate's Court. The charges follow the stabbing of off-duty police officer, Brent Longsworth which occurred around 3:30 yesterday morning outside the Blue Angels Nightclub in San Ignacio. Police say Longsworth was off-duty at the time and was purchasing food outside the club in San Ignacio when four people who he had arrested about a week before approached him. One of the men reportedly threw an empty Guinness pint at him, while the other three jumped on him.  In the attack one of the three then pulled out a knife and stabbed Longsworth in his back.  Longworth remains in a stable condition in the Belmopan Hospital.

Dangriga police have detained a man from that community in connection with an alleged rape that occurred on Sunday. Police say a 23 year-old woman of Dangriga Town reported that sometime around 11-30 last night she met a man she knew only as Valdez. The man reportedly invited her to his house because he wanted to hire her to help his mother with some domestic work. The woman said however, that upon entering his house, the man attacked her and raped her.  A medical examination has since revealed that she was sexually molested and police have detained a 37 year-old man pending charges.

Belize City police are investigating a stabbing that occurred yesterday that has left a 16 year-old youth hospitalized.  Police say they went to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital yesterday where they found Moses Pacheco of Ladyville Village suffering from a stab wound to the lower right side of his back.  Pacheco reported that he and six others were walking on Marine Parade around midnight on Saturday when a group of 12 approached them during which time one of them stabbed him.  Police say the motive for the stabbing is still unknown and that they are investigating.
