Many high level guests have accepted the invitation of Prime Minister Said Musa to participate in the 25th anniversary of Belize’s independence. A release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states among the many distinguished guests who have accepted the Prime Minister’s invitation is President of Panama His Excellency Martin Torrijos. This will be President Torrijos’ first official visit to Belize since his Presidency began on September 1, 2004. Prime Minister will confer the Order of Belize on the late General Omar Torrijos who was fervent in his support of Belize’s quest for Independence. President Martin Torrijios the son of General Torrijos will receive the honour in his name. Other invited guests include His Excellency Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz of Cuba, Secretary General of CARICOM Doctor Edwin Carrington, Special envoy of the Republic of China-Taiwan and former Foreign Minister His Excellency Tan Sun Chen and Assistant Secretary General of the organization of American States His Excellency Albert Ramdin. At least 30 non resident ambassadors accredited to Belize will also be in Belize for the twenty fifth Independence anniversary.
