STUDENTS IN CALIFORNIA DONATE WHEELCHAIRS

October 05, 2006

The Rotary Club of Belize is inviting those people who need are in need of a wheel chair to register for one. Rotary’s Francis Woods says the wheel chairs were obtained through the Wheel Chair Foundation and students from California.

Francis Woods:

“We had a group out of California, students from Cal – Poly University and they raised funds to get us these wheel chairs and they normally get the Rotary Clubs in a country to distribute to for them we make sure that they get it out to the people that really need them.”

Woods says they had some delays in getting all the wheel chairs in the country but that people who need one can now get it delivered.

Francis Woods:

We delivered about forty about a month ago but we had a little bit of delays with the receiving of the 560 of them.  But we got them and they need to call 222 – 4369 and ask for Theresa she will coordinate on how that person can pick up the wheel chair or how it can be delivered to you. And this is countrywide because we have Rotary Clubs all over the country and a lot of the Rotary Clubs in the different districts will doing distributions on their own. So basically what that person needs to do, they need to register and get a picture taken with them in the wheel chair but it is as simple as that. But we have that really need the wheelchairs, 540 will be finished at some point and we want to make sure that its people that really need the wheelchairs that get it.”
