Belize City Police have arrested and charged 30 year old Dennis Quilter and 17 year old Kareem Arnold of Ladyville Village. The two were charged after Police recovered a firearm that was reported stolen from a residence in the Bella Vista area of Belize City. 37 year Ronnel Berges reported to Police that sometime between Friday October 27th and Wednesday November 1st, his house was burglarized and a number of items were stolen including a DVD player, 15 hundred dollars in cash and a point 380 Beretta Brand loaded with eight live rounds of ammunition. Police investigations have since led to the recovery of the firearm which was found in the possession of Quilter and Arnold, both of Michelle Estate in Ladyville. During their investigations, Police also discovered a number of other items which were reported missing in another burglary on October 28. In that report, 27 year old Eric Chang told Police that someone had broken into his house and stolen a number of items including two watches, two rings and four thousand U.S. dollars. During a search of the suspects’ homes, Police recovered the two watches and a Nissan Maxima car that was believed to be bought with proceeds of the burglary. As a result, the two men were additionally charged with a count of handling stolen property and Quilter was charged with the crime of burglary.
