November 03, 2006
Prison Fellowship Belize will soon be introducing its Christmas Cards. The cards will feature two designs and will sell in packets of six. We spoke with Prison Fellowship’s Paul Hunt. Paul Hunt: “There is an initiative this year that we have recognized the artistic talents of some of the inmates of the Central Prison. Some of them have been designing Christmas cards the actual card covers itself, one or two were excellent so these are being converted into actual Christmas cards with a message and they will be sold as charity Christmas cards in the market place either to companies, individuals through organizations and possibly even through stationary houses. You know we try to encourage prisoners to rebuild their lives and try to see new horizons and one way is to encourage them to develop their skills and one of those programs is art. So while we get public involvement in this and get some recognition all around by making their skills available to the general public, we feel that that will contribute to people’s own interest and recognition of good values.” Paul Hunt, of Prison Fellowship Belize. The cards will be available for sale on Wednesday from any Rotarian, Prison Fellowship Belize and the Salvation Army at five dollars per packet. Proceeds from the sale will go towards Prison Fellowship rehabilitation programs.
