CRUISE OPERATORS CALL ON LEADERS TO ACT RESPONSIBLY

A release signed by a number of Cruise Operators calls on our leaders to act responsibly and with maturity and constraint in the ongoing dispute between Government of Belize and the Belize City Council.The release says the tourism industry must be carefully guarded and managed as it can easily be lost to neighboring countries.The Cruise Tourism industry has developed over the past ten years through the hard work and investment of millions of dollars by Belizean individuals and companies. More importantly thousands of Belizeans jobs can easily be lost through actions that bring any negative publicity to our destination. The release ends by saying they urge all parties to dialogue with a view to finding solutions that will safeguard the industry that has become so vital to the livelihood of so many of our Belizean people.
