BELIZE CITY MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH ROBBERY

Belize City Police have arrested and charged 22-year-old Jion Bernard of a Lovely Lane address with robbery.Bernard was caught running from the scene of a robbery and was in possession of items reported stolen.Sometime around eight o’clock last night Police say they responded to reports of a robbery in progress at Tang’s Store on Vasquez Avenue in the King’s Park area of Belize City. Police quickly responded and saw a male person running from the area. Police say they intercepted and apprehended Bernard. 29-year-old Zan Chee Chan told Police that he was inside his place of business when a dark complexioned male entered the store and pointed a black handgun at him and demanded money.According to Chan another man entered the store and stole 600 dollars in cash, about 15 hundred dollars worth of telephone cards and a plastic bag with about 300 dollars in coins.A search of Bernard who was caught running from the area led to the discovery of a bag containing sixty-five phone cards and 158 dollars in coins. Bernard was also found in possession of an imitation firearm and has since been charged for the crime of robbery.
