19-YEAR-OLD CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER

19-year-old Leon Garcia was charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and wounding. Garcia was remanded to April 3. This was in connection with a shooting incident that left 32-year-old Eric Franklin suffering from a gunshot wound to the right shoulder. Franklin, an operator at Belize Water Services told Police he was standing in Fitzgibbons Alley off Victoria Street speaking with a friend when a gunman entered the alley and fired several shots in his direction. Franklin was admitted to ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where the bullet was removed. He has since been discharged from the hospital.
