March 20, 2007
The National Anti Crime Association of Belize will hold a one day crime prevention workshop tomorrow. Troy Banner is the Acting Chairman of the Association. Troy Banner: Acting Chairman “The Belize City Council Anti Crime Association will be holding the first ever crime sharing prevention workshop at the City Hall on North Front Street. The purpose of the workshop is to establish a great working relationship with all Town Counselors country wide to assist in the fight to minimize crime and violence in our country Belize. All the various counselors will be coming in, the counselors that have the portfolio for crime prevention and all these counselors will be ask to do a thirty minute presentation base on the different crime situations in there districts and they will also be showcasing the different techniques and the program they have invented in there municipalities to help minimize crime and violence in there respective district. In will be an internal training because the main focus is to have each of the other counselors sit down and discuss with each other, to have them know exactly how to minimize crime because crime is something that cannot be taken on by one person it has to be with a whole group so that each person can share there ideas, there views and with sharing that together then that will help to minimize crime and violence.” Banner tells us of upcoming activities of the association. Troy Banner: Acting Chairman “What we hope to accomplish is to use some of the same ideas that these counselors come up with to set in place here in the Belize District and the other district to use along with the police department for example a great initiative that Counselor King has come up with is a project that is called Men Of Hope. Since they say men are the problem to family violence what we will try to do is to convert these men from being the problem to the solution. That is one of the initiatives. Next week the 27 we will be having a march and a rally through the principal streets of Belize. The rally is to raise funds for the victims of Domestic Violence, the children who cannot go to school they don’t have finance because there parents cannot help them because they are laid up in the home in bed or in the hospital or something like that. We will be raising funds through this rally and March to assist in sending these children to school.” Troy Banner, Acting Chairman of the National Anti Crime Association of Belize.
