Randine Tasher is a Belizean athlete who is pursuing studies abroad. In an effort to assist Randine achieve her goals her family has opened the Randine Tasher Education Fund. We spoke with Randine’s mother Carol Palma. Carol Palma: Mother “Randine is a track and field athlete. She has been representing Belize since 1997. She have complete in Central America. she started as a hexalon athlete and then further she came out to be a pentathlon athlete. In 1996 she won a bronze medal in Guatemala City. In 1997 she went to El Salvador and she got a silver medal in pentathlon. In 1998 she went to Nicaragua and she also got silver medal in pentathlon. Then in 1999 she went to Puerto Barrios and got her self another silver medal for Belize. Randine is in St Louis Missouri at Missouri Baptist and is focusing on sports education. She is out in the states at our expenses. So what we are doing as a family is come together to make this big raffle to contribute to pay for her tuition over there.” Palma said they have opened an account as well as organizing a grand raffle which will be drawn on May 18. Carol Palma: Mother “The public can assist by simply buying a book and to buy a book it cost twenty dollars. You buy a book with ten raffle ticket and you get a ticket free. The tickets are two dollars each. We also have an account open at Scotia Bank which the number is 870 1328. That will be for contributions for Randine's financial fund.” Ava Diaz: News Director “How much money are you looking for?” Carol Palma: Mother “The tuition at this stage is fourteen one hundred and forty US dollars. Missouri Baptist is paying which is a part of her scholarship tuition seven thousand one hundred and if you subtract from there as the parents we need to find you need to find that other part.” Palma said the family has come together and come up with ten prizes for the raffle. Carol Palma: Mother “The first prize is a 4.5 cubic feet Mabe refrigerator. The second prize is a Mabe stove with oven. The third prize is a 7.5kg silver point washing machine with spin dryer and then we have a beach cruiser with helmet and it’s a men bicycle. Then we have a slow cooker, seven quartz. Then 40pcs table wear set. Then a seven piece pot set, a 12 speed blender, a 5 speed stand mixer with turbo and the lat prize is a food chopper.” If you would like to assist Randine Tasher you can purchase a raffle ticket or make a contribution to Scotia Bank account number eight–seven–zero-one– three–two--eight.
