The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade will host its second lecture series tomorrow. The lecture series comes as part of the Ministry’s continued celebration of Belize’s twenty-five years of Independence. The lecture will be presented by President of Banco Salvadoreno, Maria Eugenia Brizuela de Avila. The title of the presentation is “Benefits of Regional Integration”. Brizuela de Avila arrives in the country tomorrow morning and stays until Friday. Love News spoke with Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Amalia Mai. Amalia Mai: Chief Executive Officer “There is a programme of activities planned for her entire visit, she comes in tomorrow morning. She will meet with the Governor General and tomorrow night the highlight will be basically the lecture series that she will give at the Princess Hotel. This is the second lecture that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organizing and it not also coincides with the Presidency Tempore of SECA we also class it as one of the activities that the Ministry is organizing with the twenty five years of Belize’ independence we celebrated last year and we continue through to this year. Her focus will be on the benefits of the Central American Integration process because we are Chairing SECA right now so we thought that the integration process would be a relevant issue top talk about now in Belize and she graciously accepted to come and join us in Belize.” Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Amalia Mai. Brizuela holds a Master’s Degree in Legal Sciences and was once a Minister of Foreign Affairs of her country, the Republic of El Salvador. During her tenure as Minister, she held positions at national and international levels. In 1999, she was the President of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States and was President of the Inter-American Committee Against Terrorism of the O-A-S. The first female president of a private Salvadoran bank, Brizuela has received numerous prizes and awards for her contribution and leadership in her country. She received the maximum award given by the Salvadoran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the “La Palma de Oro” Award. Maria Eugenia Brizuela de Avila is regarded as an imminent personality in Central America and the hemisphere. The lecture begins at seven o’clock tomorrow evening, March 22 at the King’s Room of the Princess Hotel and Casino in Belize City. Last year, in commemoration of Independence Day activities, the Ministry hosted then Jamaican Prime Minister, P.J. Patterson. Patterson spoke on the significance of Independence of small states. C-E-O Mai says that the Ministry plans to hold more workshops to benefit the Belizean public. Mai, on behalf of the Ministry, invites all to the lecture on the benefits of regional integration, which is free of cost.
