A Belize City man was shot this morning and Police are looking for two people for questioning. Police say sometime around 11 o’clock this morning they responded to reports of a shooting incident on Lawrence Street off Electric Avenue in the Saint Martin De Pores area. They saw a man lying in a wooded area behind an open lot. Police transported the man to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a critical condition. He has since been identified as 24-year-old Sherwin Locke. Police say their initial investigations reveal Locke was in the area when he was approached by two men who chased him and then shot him. Police continue their investigations.

Belmopan Police have recovered three computers and charged three minors with the burglary of the Evergreen Primary School in Belmopan. Principal Pamela Neal reported to Police that sometime between one o’clock Saturday afternoon and one o’clock Sunday afternoon the school was broken into and three computers complete with c-p-u, monitors and printers. Police investigations led to a subsequent recovery of the items and the arrest and charge of one 16 year, one 15 year and 14 year old. All three minors were charged with burglary and handling stolen property.

Belmopan Police have arrested and charged four people following investigations into a number of robberies that have been happening on the crosswalks of that municipality. Police say they have been hard at work investigating the robberies that were targeting in particular, young persons and females. Belmopan Police have also confiscated a number of items believed to have been stolen from victims of these robberies. Police have charged 24 year old Denmark Cruz and recovered one of two gold chains stolen from 67-year-old Theodora Escalante on March 14th. Cruz has been charged for the crime of handling of stolen property and will likely be charged for theft following an Identification Parade. 24-year-old Yopendara Cruz and 19-year-old Justin Stewart have been charged for robbery and handling stolen property after they were positively identified as the pair who robbed two sisters as they walked on the crosswalk on February 26th of this year. Police were able to recover a bicycle and a cell phone that were stolen from a 15-year-old and 19-year-old Sharina Oh. Police also arrested and charged 20-year-old Vernon Martin and charged him for robbery after he was positively identified as the person who robbed 17-year-old Dean Botes on February 17th of this year. Police continue their vigilant monitoring of the affected areas and advise residents to exercise caution when walking alone. Police are asking anyone who was robbed over the past couple of months to please visit the Belmopan Police Station to see if they can identify their property. Police advise all residents of the area to immediately report any suspicious persons or incidents to the Belmopan Police Station

Businessman Walter Panting, Justice of the Peace reported to Police that sometime between six o’clock yesterday evening and 7 o’clock this morning his business, Panting Store in Independence Village was burglarized. Thieves made off with over 10 thousand dollars worth of assorted jewelries including chains, bracelets, earrings, medals.   Police investigation has led to the recovery of all items stolen and the arrest of 18- year old Ronald Reyes Montes and 17 year old Ricky Ricardo Tzul.  Police are investigating to determine if the pair were in fact involved in a couple of other burglars in the same area.
