BELIZE TELECOMMUNICATIONS LIMITED RELEASES NEW TELEPHONE DIRECTORY

The Belize Telecommunications Limited has unveiled its 2007 telephone directory. For the first time the company has done the production of the book on its own, says B-T-L’s Public Relations Executive, Linette Cano.

‘What happen in June of 2006 Verizon Information Services which was the company that used to produce BTL directory and sold ads etc, they closed down their Belize office and the agreement between Verizon and BTL was terminated. Therefore the company decided that this will be a good time to look into producing our own directory. In June of 2006 we immediately introduce our directory services department a team of talented young Belizeans who has work very hard and there hard work has accumulated into a telephone directory that we believe is attractive user friendly and of excellent quality. Actually we have had positive feed back from many people who have had the opportunity to see the directory since they got into our hands yesterday."

Canto says there are several enhancements to the new directory.

“This new edition features a special directory paper which puts us at very high standards in the region and it allows us to have pages that are very attractive and the contents of these pages are more legible to readers. In additions the directory is now in full color, so when you open it, it will be very impressive and eye catching. Another notable improvement is for those customers who wish to make international calls, the rates for all countries are now included in the directory which makes it much easier for them. Business customers are now benefiting significantly because all businesses have been automatically listed in the yellow pages at now extra charge. The directories are now available and customers can obtain there copy from any customer service center country wide.”

Canto says the publication also has additional tidbits about Belize.

“It feature on the cover a little island in the Stann Creek District called Caribo Caye which many people might not be aware of but it is the sight of the Smithsonian Institute Marine Research Lab which is stationed here in Belize where all aspects of our Marine environment have been studied an documented. It’s a beautiful cover, we’ve had very positive feed back on that. Inside as well Belize’s beauty diversity and our dynamic culture are reflected in what we call the tourism pages which contain among other things a map of Belize, history of Belize things to know about our country and other interested and informative tidbits about Belize. So this telephone directory is going to be used for many different reasons I assure you that.”

Canto says the production of the book was by no means a cheap venture.
