21-YEAR-OLD CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION

Belize City Police have arrested and charged 21-year-old Delroy Matura of a Neal’s Penn Road address and charged him with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Police say sometime around 1:30 Tuesday morning they were on patrol on Central American Blvd when upon reaching an area near Neal’s Penn Road, they saw two men involved in a heated argument. Police say when they approached the two, they saw Matura throw an object into a drain and run off. Police retrieved the object and discovered it to be a nine millimeter pistol loaded with seven live rounds of ammunition.Police then conducted a search of the area and apprehended Matura after he was found hiding behind a fence.
