WOMAN UNDER POLICE WATCH PENDING CHARGES OF CONCEALMENT OF BIRTH

Belize City Police have a 21 year-old woman under watch at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital pending charges of concealment of birth. Police say sometime around seven last night they got information and visited a residence in the St. Martin de Porres area of Belize City where they found what appeared to be a lifeless fetus wrapped in a plastic on the verandah of the residence. Police say they were able to locate a 21-year-old woman who they advised of the illegality of the concealment of the birth. Police say they took the woman to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police say the fetus was also taken to the hospital where a Medical Officer confirmed that it was a human fetus and pronounced it dead on arrival.
