2ND ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM ON CANCER

Last Friday more than 60 health care providers and students from across the country participated in the second annual symposium on cancer. The symposium covered topics such as oncology in Belize, malignant brain tumors, cervical cancer, childhood leukemia, digestive tract cancers, therapeutic considerations in cancer, lymphoma, emergencies in palliative care, prostate cancer and cancer registries. Newly elected president Doctor Alba Sosa Mendez and Vice president Doctor Peter Allen joined other speakers in urging participants to consider cancer when diagnosing difficult symptoms in their patients. Prevention, screening and early diagnosis are the keys to better survival rates in cancer.
