OFFICE OF GOVERNANCE CONTINUES ITS COUNTRYWIDE SEMINARS

The Office of Governance continues with its series of seminars countrywide for Public Officers.  Today the seminar is being held at the Father Ring Parish Hall in Punta Gorda for officers in the Toledo District.  Human Resources Management and Development Coordinator in the Office of Governance is Jasmine Joseph.

“The purpose of the workshop is to reinstitute awareness of the Public Service Personnel Policies and Regulations,meaning the office of services commission regulations and the public service regulations.”

“Why the need for this?”

Jasmine Joseph:Human Resources Management and Development Coordinator in the Office of Governance

“We see that public officers are not familiar with the various locations that govern their conditions of service and this is why we try to embark on a countrywide tour to engage public officers in these awareness programs.”

Joseph says the seminars serve to satisfy the strategic objective of promoting and fostering values, culture, and work ethic to improve service delivery to the citizens of Belize.

“What happens,do you guys monitor the officers after this so you know that they’re doing their job or are you dependent on the public?”

“We depend mostly on the public but we’re planning to implement a monitoring and evaluation system.We will be monitoring and evaluating the various departments shortly.The government of Belize has a website and we receive numerous questions and complaints via the website and we try to address them there and people would call our office and we would try to address the matters.”
