MINISTER'S SON KILLED IN ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

Manuela Ayuso,Love FM:

“Ralph Fonseca Jr., son of Home Affairs Minister Ralph Fonseca,has died as a result of a traffic incident.Around three o’clock this afternoon,the vehicle that Fonseca was in was involved in an incident near mile 52 on the Northern highway.Reports are that a trailer that was being hauled by a truck traveling in the other direction,became unhitched and slammed into the front part of a black Prado,trapping its passengers inside.Fonseca and the driver on the vehicle,Ralph Balderamos,died on the scene.Two other passengers, 34 year old Halden Stevenson and 41 year old Eugene Webster,were transported in stable condition to the Northern Regional Hospital where they are receiving treatment.We were on the scene shortly after the incident and spoke with one fo the first persons who arrived on the scene.” 

Eyewitness:

“When I came out here,I saw a black Prado on the right hand on the road and a trailer to the left driver’s side that had collided to the left driver’s side of the black Prado.When we approached,we encountered four persons in the pick-up truck and we tried assisting and we got one of the guys to the back out.From there we tried to take out the guy to the back.He was a little bit conscious and he was doing fine for a while so we proceeded along trying to help the guy in the front.Unfortunately,we tried and tried but it’s really hard to say because we really tried to help the guy.When we realized that nothing could have been done,we then proceeded to helping the guy in the back.From the incident happened we called the fire department like half hour ago and they didn’t respond.My workers came out along with my drivers,my conductors,all of us tried helping the guy along with a few onlookers.We managed to release the guy to the back.Only two persons we could have taken out.”

“And these two people have been taken to the hospital?” 

Eyewitness:

“The first person was taken as soon as we got the first person out and a good Samaritan just put him behind his truck and took him to the hospital.The Northern Regional Hospital,I must commend those guys,they did a good job.They were the major ones that came out and we took out the guys to the back and they were taken to the hospital just a few minutes ago.”

“What do you think happened when you see a trailer in the middle of the road?” 

Eyewitness:

“Well,I’m not certain about what happened.All I can tell you is that something was pulling the trailer,it broke off the hinge and it wheeled off and they tried to get away from the impact but unfortunately,it just collided to the front.”

“We understand that the bodies of Ralph Fonseca Junior and Ralph Balderamos were transported to the Belize City morgue. The driver of the truck was detained by Orange Walk police. Reporting for Love FM News from Orange Walk Town, I am Manuela Ayuso.”
