PERSON DETAINED FOLLOWING EARLY MORNING SHOOTING

Police have detained one person following a shooting in Belize City yesterday morning. According to police reports, 28-year-old Eric Jones reported to police that the incident occurred around at 10:30 am yesterday morning while he was sitting in a yard on Aloe Vera Street along with his girlfriend Elizabeth Martinez. Jones told police that they were approached by Norris Martinez who was riding a blue beach cruiser bicycle and was armed with a black handgun, resembling a nine millimeter pistol. Martinez reportedly pointed the firearm towards them and fired three shots causing damage only to the front portion of the plywood house which is the property of Elizabeth Martinez. 27-year-old Norris Martinez has since been detained by police pending the outcome of their investigation.
