Belize City police have detained two men and are looking for a third person after they recovered a firearm and ammunition in a vehicle. Police reports are that around 8:30 pm last night, a mobile patrol on Central American Boulevard saw a grey Pontiac Bonneville traveling from the direction of Cemetery Road towards Iguana Street. Police say they pursued the vehicle and with the assistance of other mobile patrols they intercepted the vehicle on Madam Liz Street. Police say they saw two people get out of the vehicle and made escaped in the nearby swamp. Inside the vehicle police found 29-year-old Winston Jones also known as Baja. Jones was wearing a bullet proof vest. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a A-K 47 rifle loaded with 27 live 7.62 caliber ammunition and a plastic bag containing 22 live 7.62 caliber ammunition. Police also recovered a Glock brand magazine containing 30 nine millimeter live rounds of ammunition that was thrown from the vehicle. Jones was detained and taken to the Queen Street Police Station. Police later detained 27-year-old Jason Brown and a re looking for a third person.
