RUDIMENTARY WATER SYSTEM SOON TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN SAN ROMAN RIO HONDO VILLAGE

San Roman Rio Hondo Village in the Orange Walk District will soon have a Rudimentary water System.  Ground breaking ceremony was held this morning by the Social Investment Fund and the Ministry of National Development.  The total cost of the project is estimated at four hundred and eighty one thousand six hundred and twenty three Belize dollars.  The government of Belize will be providing four hundred and thirty eight thousand one hundred and eighty three dollars through a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank.  The remaining forty three thousand four hundred and forty dollars will be provided by the community of San Roman as in-kind labor contributions.  The new water system will include a chlorinator, a pump, and a twenty thousand gallon elevated ferro-concrete water tank.  The project will also entail laying in the ground P-V-C supply mains and service lines to some one hundred and twenty five households.  Training for operating and maintaining the system, basic accounting for the water board clerk and efficient water usage and sanitation for the villagers will also be provided under the project.  Taking part at the ground breaking ceremony was Prime Minister of Belize and Minister of National Development Said Musa, Minister of State in the Ministry of Natural resources and the Environment, Area Representative for Orange Walk North, Servulo Baeza and Acting Executive Director for the Social Investment Fund, Barbara Locke.
