ROTARY INTERNATIONAL RANKS IN THE TOP FIVE IN THE FINANCIAL TIMES

November 01, 2007

The Financial Times has ranked Rotary International one of the top five non-governmental organizations for corporate partnerships. In the Newspaper’s special supplement, Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy, Rotary came in fifth in the global rankings of 34 finalists. Published in conjunction with the U-N Global Compact Leaders Summit held in Geneva, the supplement reached some one point four million senior business executives, industry and government leaders, and private/institutional investors across 140 countries. Rotary International has a long and distinguished history of collaborating with other organizations in the name of humanitarian service. In fact, the two local Belize City Clubs, the Rotary Club of Belize and the Rotary Club of Belize Sunrise just recently completed construction of a new home for a needy family. This was done in partnership with Hand in Hand Ministries and is the second completed this year.  At the Rotary Club of Belize Rotary Meeting of Wednesday October 24th, the aunt of a Gift of Life child, received one of Rotary International¹s highest award, the Paul Harris Fellow award. Miss Delvorine Smith, aunt of one-year-old Tony Moody, whose parents are Stephanie Tucker and Mandy Moody, received this prestigious award from the Rotary District 6960, through the Rotary family that hosted her and Tony in Sarasota Florida. Delvorine expressed her gratitude to both the Rotary Club of Belize and the Rotary Club of Sarasota Florida, for assisting her nephew Tony, to receive the Gift of Life.  The Rotary Club of Belize says they would like to thank the business community and the general public for their support that in turn, makes projects like these possible. If you would like to find out more about the Rotary Club of Belize you can contact Sandra McKay at Guardian Life Insurance in Belize City.
