19-year-old Kenrick Reneau and 17-year-old Julian Ebanks who were convicted of two counts of burglary, were sentenced to five years for each count today. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers who imposed the sentences stipulated that they should run consecutively. The burglaries occurred on August 20 and August 21, 2007 when Hurricane Dean struck the northern portion of Belize. Dental surgeon Osbert Usher was the victim of both burglaries. First his home at 3580 Sittee Street was burglarized and a number of household items amounting to over nine thousand dollars were stolen. His business place on Magazine Road was broken into. Police arrived at the scene in time to see Reneau exiting the clinic through a damaged window with burglar bars. Reneau ran but was caught by police. Ebanks was found inside the building. Ebanks pleaded guilty to both offences on November 28, 2007. Reneau was found guilty this morning. Attorney Darrell Bradley who held brief for attorney Alifa Elrington offered a plea for mitigation before the sentencing.
