Prime Minister Said Musa and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Belize Water Services Limited, Norris Hall today signed an agreement for the installation of a new Water system in Caye Caulker. The scope of the project includes the purchase and installation of a reverse osmosis plant, the construction of a Ferro concrete storage tank, seven point five miles of P-V-C distribution and main lines, 500 service connections with meters to the residents of Caye Caulker. Over 15 hundred residents and visitors to the area will benefit from the project that will ensure that the village will have reliable access to portable water. This new system will replace the existing system that provides water from a shallow well but can only be used for domestic chores due to the contamination of the ground water well. The $2.3 million dollar project is being funded jointly by the Government of Belize and the Belize Water Services Limited. The project will commence immediately and is expected to be completed within the next 15 months. Upon completion the water system will be managed by B-W-S-L.
