MEXICAN EMBASSY MAKES ADJUSTMENTS TO VISA PROTOCOL

January 08, 2008

The Mexican Embassy in Belize has announced they have changed some procedures in regards to visas.  According to public relation officer at the embassy, Marcelino Miranda, this is to facilitate visits by tourist to Mexico.

Marcelino Mirandam,public relation officer:

“People who are holding a Belizean passport and once they’ve received their consular stamp, they will be able to travel to Mexico. The new changes to the visa, they will be able to come and go to Mexico several times on multiple occasions to become during the time that the consular stamp is taken. Because before, people needed to come every time to visit Mexico and so now they just need to come once to the consular section and that applies for people who are traveling as tourist or for medical reasons, business or if they are in transit to other countries.”

Persons who have a Belizean residency but hold a passport from another country will also need to follow this procedure.  However, people traveling with a passport from Canada, U-S-A, U-K or JAPAN, or holding a United States Permanent Resident card will follow a different procedure.

Marcelino Mirandam,public relation officer:

“People who have Belize investments but have a passport from another country, they need to come to the council and apply before a consular for a visa. They need to apply for a visa in the normal way. Once they obtain a visa, they will be able to come and go on multiple occasions to Mexico during the validity of those visas. For people who are holding a Canadian passport, US passport, passport from the UK or Japan, they don’t need to come to the consular section. They can go directly to the border and they just need to fill out a form and they can cross into Mexico and especially for people who are holding a Belizean passport if they are holding a residence in the US. If they are holding a green card, they don’t need to come to the consular section, they can go directly to the border as well and they have to fill in the blue form and that will allow them to cross into Mexico.”

Miranda said that for more information, persons interested in traveling to Mexico can call the Consular Section of the Embassy at 223 01 93 during normal working hours.
