BELIZE MEDIAL ASSOCIATES TURNS 20

Belize Medical Associates is today celebrating their 20^th anniversary. Doctor Fernando Cuellar is a practicing physician at the hospital and he told us more about their achievements over the past 20 years.

“In 1988, a group of my colleagues had the vision, the wisdom to get together to form this company. Over the past 20 years we have grown individual clinics, very small scale operation to something large and quiet efficient as what we have right now.  And it has gradually grown to more clinics, more doctors, now I think we have a staff of 22 doctors here now doing clinics. We have also added the in patient care which is the hospital and that has offered the whole range of services; cardiology, neurology, intensive care, orthopedics, gynecology and of course now we are getting into the daycare kind of services where people come in one day and go out by the end of the day.”

As a part of the anniversary celebration the facility will be hosting a lecture at the RadissonFortGeorgeHotel later this month.

“We plan to have a, what we would call a day with the experts where we will discuss two topics that are very familiar with the Belizean people, Sickle Cell Disease and Lupus. We are seeing more and more of these type of illnesses and I think it will benefit the Belizean public at large to get a little bit more information as well as some of our colleagues who provide service for these types of clients. It will be on the 29^th of August in the evening and night. We cater first for a lecture that will be for the public and then later on that night we have the lecture for our colleagues. For the month of August and September we are offering a 20 percent discount on in hospital care which includes the emergency room and the hospital per say and that will of course that will include the lab and x-rays for persons who are being seen through that area.”
