Belize City police have detained two men following a burglary at the UB campus kitchen on Freetown Road. Sylvia Cattouse of the University reported to police that the kitchen was broken into sometime during the month of September and Monday of this week. The thieves got away with kitchen appliances and accessories amounting to more than 8 thousand dollars. Police have so far recovered a microwave, a set of diner ware and a large plastic container. Security Guards Herman and Ronald Miranda have been detained pending further investigations.


Four men from Bomba Village have been detained following a burglary at the home Jose Lazo of the same village. Lazo told police that his home was broken into between the hours of 6 and 9:30 pm on Sunday October 26th. Taken from his residence was a 16 gauge shot gun with serial number 7-2-2-2-4-6 and an assortment of electronic equipment and power tools totaling nine hundred dollars. Police investigations have led to the detention of Fernando Madril, Francisco Madril, Ervil Garnett and Herman
Ramirez. Police continue to investigate.

A home in Lord’s Bank was burglarized and police are looking for one suspect who they know. Monica King told police that her home was broken into on Sunday October 26 and an assortment of household items, jewelry, clothing and other personal items were taken. The value of the items taken is $6800.00. Police are looking for Leroy Haylock pending investigation.

30 year Eric Salazar have been arrested and charged for drug trafficking. Cayo police were on mobile patrol yesterday when on the old border road when they stopped and searched Salazar. Police discovered two separate plastic bags containing a total of 483.2 grams of cannabis.

San Ignacio resident Bedalfo Chen has been detained by police pending charges of keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Shortly after one this morning police received information of shots being fired on Collins Boulevard in San Ignacio Town. When police arrived on the scene they saw Chan running from the area but threw an object in the bushes while trying to escape. Chan was later caught and when police took him back to the location it was discovered that it was a 9mm pistol with serial 6-5-4-9-0 and a magazine with 7 live 9mm ammunition.
