SCOUTS ASSOCIATION OF BELIZE TO CONDUCT FOOD DRIVE FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

October 30, 2008

The Scouts Association of Belize will be hosting a country wide food drive this Saturday. Orlando Garcia Director of Training at the Scouts Association tells us more.

Orlando Garcia; Director of Training

“The Scouts Association of Belize will be conducting a National Food Drive for the flood victims in Belize. This food drive will include Scouts from across the country who will participate on Saturday November 1st. the drive will commence from 9am and will go through to 1pm. I must make mention to all the business places also that we will be placing some containers where the shoppers can drop in any little food items that they would like to donate. We also welcome toiletries and any other items that they would like to donate.”

The association has assigned areas of appeal for Belize City where interested donors can drop off their items. But Garcia said that scout troops will also go around collecting donations.

Orlando Garcia; Director of Training

“The donations can be dropped off at any major business place or Supermarkets where these containers will be placed. Also the Scouts will be going house to house soliciting for these donations; they can also drop off their donations at the headquarters which is on the lower flat of the City Center. All the food items countrywide that will be collected on Saturday will be turned into the Red Cross district branches and they in turn will distribute it to the people.”

A release from the association says the food drive is in keeping with the scout slogan, promise and law of doing a good turn daily; serving country and a scout is helpful to others. If anyone having items that need to be picked up you can call the association at 2-2-7-2-1-6-8 or 2-2-7-0-4-1-3.
