BELIZE TO TAKE PART IN THE 57TH ANNUAL MISS WORLD PAGEANT

Belize will be represented at the 57^th annual Miss World Pageant scheduled to be held in Johannesburg South Africa from November 16^th to December 13^th. 21 year old Charmaine Chinapen will be leaving Belize on November 3^rd to finalize preparation for the pageant. We spoke to her this morning about her participation in the pageant.

“I am so excited, beyond words, its so surreal and such a beautiful experience. We are competing at the Miss World 2008 Competition and I am going to guarantee you that we are going to do very well. Belize will do well. When you go to South Africa in Johannesburg where it will be held you have to learn the official language Zulu and there area a lot of different phrases that you have to learn. But along with that you have to prepare 30 days of wardrobe for a 30 day competition and it’s just so much that goes into it. I think that personally I feel that I represent what a Miss World contestant should be and so I know I am going to be doing a really brilliant job and I am working so hard to make sure that it goes smoothly.”

According to Pageants Belize Director Margaret Johnson, Belize will be represented in four of the five fast track events to the Miss World finals. These include, Beach Beauty, Miss World Talent, Top Model and Beauty with a Purpose. Chinapen told us more about her self and what she hopes to accomplish.

“I think that I represent what the slogan of the competition is which is “Beauty with a Purpose”. Personally I love charitable organizations and currently I am studying to be a Neurosurgeon and that is a dream of mine that I will accomplish. I am actually starting the Charm Foundation which will be helping children directly through funding and that will be my personal baby that I will be taking care of. It’s a lot of work but I really find my heart is in helping other people and that is just who I am through and through. Working with Doctors without Borders in the future and all of those really beautiful things that I get to do and that is where my heart is.”

Chinapen is a student at Saint John University in New York acquiring a Bachelor’s Degree in New York and she is confident that she will do well in the Miss World Pageant.

“We are going to do well, I promise you. We will be making semi finals guaranteed, so I have a lot of work ahead of me but I am willing to do it. I want to put Belize up in the pageantry world to be a force to be reckoned with. I want to thank everybody in Belize for their support. I take all of it with me when I am competing over there and I will always remember that and I will keep it next to me as comfort and know that I have your support no matter what. And it’s going to be a beautiful experience and I thank you all. Thank You so very much.”

Charmaine Chinapen have been recognized by a number of reputable pageantry magazines such as Missosology and Paddy Power.com who rated Chinapen in the top 15 from among 114 delegates over the past five weeks.
