To have any success at the general elections, the UDP would have to resolve much of the party infighting and strife that has played out so publicly in the two years they’ve been the parliamentary opposition. However, the party leader Moses Barrow appears optimistic that not only will the infighting be resolved, but that the party will be fit and ready for elections. We also asked Barrow whether the conventions are signs that fences are being mended within. Here’s his response to that.
Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “Well I am optimistic that at the end of the day all of us are participating in this organization, participating in a representative politics because we want to make a difference in the lives of the people in our constituencies, in our communities, in our nation and at the end of the day it is that common goal, that common objective, that common agenda that binds us all. I don’t believe anywhere on earth human beings agree on everything and human beings are without discord however what human beings do have the ability to do is prioritize and to identify commonalities and focus on those commonalities.”
